Immigration has become a polarizing economic, political, and social issue in the United States. However, it is also an important Biblical issue because it deals with human beings whom the Bible tells us are image bearers of God. As Christians, we have an obligation to be certain that our values on this issue are primarily informed by our faith. But what does the Bible say about immigration? How do we hold in tension the command to obey the law and the care of our immigrant neighbors? Amid all the contradictory rhetoric, what are the facts about immigration? What is our Christian responsibility to immigrants?

Karen Gonzalez is seeking to see and love her neighbor as God does. She is a speaker, writer, public theologian, and immigration advocate, who immigrated from Guatemala as a child. She is a former publicschool teacher and attended Fuller Theological Seminary. Her two books are: The God Who Sees: Immigration, the Bible, and the Journey to Belong and Beyond Welcome: Centering Immigrants in our Christian Response to Immigration.
